Junior Marauder Skill Clinic

Belmont Youth Hockey is committed to providing the best possible development opportunities for our players.  USA Hockey has conducted years of research into alternative paths of development – looking at the impact of more games, more practices, and different types of practices – from development programs all around the world.  Their research as clearly demonstrated that skill development in well-organized practices is by far the best method to developing and improving young hockey players and athletes.   As an organization, BYHA has adopted USA Hockey’s station based practices that emphasize core skills and full utilization of the practice time. And starting in November each year, we also provide each team with a dedicated skills session run by a Pro Ambitions, a leading nation-wide hockey training and development company based here in Boston.

However, we recognize that many parents and players may seek additional opportunities and in the past may have had to look outside Belmont.  To address the gap, BYHA has partnered with Belmont Junior Marauders to provide a supplemental development program that we feel is the most outstanding individual skill development program bar none.

The Tom Ford Junior Marauders Skills Clinic is offered from September through February with two 1 hour skills sessions each week.  The program is tailored for boys and girls from 3rd to 8th grade.   The lead instructor is Tom Ford, one the nation’s top hockey skills instructors having served as the personal skills and development coach for multiple NHL teams, top college players, and elite high school hockey.

If your player is psyched about hockey and interested in exceptional skill development, please consider the Tom Ford Junior Marauder Skills Clinic.  It is available for a full season, or in one month increments.  With a couple years under our belts on the program, we have seen the benefit it has provided to our BYHA kids – accelerating their development to play at the top levels of their age groups.

Junior Marauder - Fall Mini Marauder Program

Junior Maruaders Starts this weekend - if you have not registered now is the time.

Again this fall, theJunior Marauder Hockey program will be conducting a beginner’s learn-to-play hockey clinic. The clinic will teach the fundamentals of skating, stick-handling, passing, and shooting, with an emphasis on skating. This clinic is designed to teach the game of hockey in a fun atmosphere and to give players instruction to improve their skills and grow their love of the game. It is designed for beginner hockey players to help them get comfortable on skates, learn and practice the fundamentals of skating, and to have a once per week format that minimizes conflicts with fall sports and gets players ready for the winter season. The program is designed to provide an affordable, sensible program for those players who intend to participate in Belmont Youth Hockey’s Mini Marauder program when it begins in November. Our ultimate goal is to have fun and get kids hooked on a great sport!

  • Boys and girls of all abilities between the ages of 4 and 8 years old
  • Kids up to age 12 who are new to hockey and have not yet participated in any formal hockey program
  • Players will be placed in groups with other kids of similar age and experience
  • All players must have the ability to stand and move on the ice without a crate.
  • All hockey equipment is required (helmet with mask, hockey gloves, elbow pads, hockey pants, shin pads, and skates).

The program will be held at the Watertown Rink on Sundays from 6:30 to 7:20pm running from September 9th-October 28th.  To register, please complete the attached form and mail it to Junior Marauder Hockey, c/o Shannon Noone, 3 Brighton Street, Belmont, MA 02478. Fall hockey clinic.docx
